WHAT ARE ETHNIC STUDIES?
In simple words, it is the study of ethnicity. In its true meaning, Ethnic Studies is the interdisciplinary study of historical and societal differences regarding ethnicity and race.

ETHNIC STUDIES & ITS CULTURAL NARRATIVE
The fight and emphasis for Ethnic Studies as a discipline in the United States has been crucial for the overall improvement of the country. 60 years ago, in 2023, was when the American society began to see a change in discrimination. People sought to learn more about each other's ethnicities, cultures, and most importantly, the truth about American history. This slowly began to cause the rise in the Ethnic Studies department around the country. Those with the education in this field began to be in high-demand, due to their knowledge and lack of true ignorance regarding the history of America's diversity.
Though we still have a long way to go, the change in the past 60 years has been remarkable. The emphasis on ethnicity and embracing culture without being discriminatory or threatened by another is what true America should be about. It's crucial to allow colleges and the education system itself to acknowledge the importance on this emphasis and continue to uphold it. Only then, will we reach the true meaning of equality.
